What to expect on a driving holiday in Namibia

Updated: Jun 6

A driving holiday in Namibia is a fantastic way to see the countryside and everything that it has to offer.

The video at the end of this post will give you a real taste of what to expect.

There are fabulous lodges across the country or campsites for those who are more adventurous. We chose lodges and booked them in advance

Okaukuejo Camp, Etosha

Spitzkoppen Lodge

Desert Homestead

You will also need to hire a 4 x 4. Driving around in a standard car is not advised, mainly because most of the roads are gravel rather than tarmac

You might still run into trouble, even in a 4 x 4, that's why you will have 2 spare wheels ...

There are many sights to see in Namibia. The two that you really must see are Sossusvlei

And Etosha - the wildlife is spectacular

Okaukuejo Camp, Etosha

You can see leopards

Okonjima Bush Camp

And cheetahs

Go kayaking with seals

Cornerstone Guesthouse, Swakopmund

And see all sorts of interesting animals

Grootberg Lodge

The hospitality is great, the Namibians are very welcoming
