When you visit Hampshire or Dorset, a great day out is taking a boat trip from Poole Quay to Swanage, going around Old Harry Rocks and the beginning (or end) of The Jurassic Coast.

Poole Quay isn't very busy early in the morning
Here's our boat
We pass lots of yachts and gin palaces as we make our way through Poole Harbour
Soon we see Brownsea Island on our right
As we cross Studland Bay we can see Old Harry Rocks in the distance
As we enter Swanage Bay we can see the famous Ballard Down Fault, where the chalk strata is almost vertical due to geological movement.
We arrive at Swanage and travel on to Corfe Castle - on the train
There's always time for a drink ...
Back to Swanage and a stroll along the beach
Then it's back on the boat for the return trip to Poole Quay
