Pannage Pigs in The New Forest 2020

In the Autumn, pigs are let out on to the forest to eat the acorns, which are poisonous to the ponies and donkeys, if eaten in large quantities.

This year, we have an abundance of acorns ...



The pigs run freely in the forest, usually for about 6 weeks. This year, though, they pannage period has been extended until December 21st, because of the glut of acorns
